KATHMANDU, Dec 1: Lawmakers chanted slogans during the parliament’s meeting on Tuesday demanding to repatriate Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae. Two parliamentarians from Nepal Workers Peasants Party (NWPP) demanded the government take the decision as the nation is in critical juncture owing to the blockade and intervention by the southern neighbor.
NWPP lawmaker Prem Suwal said they voiced to that end as India has interfered Nepal’s sovereignty. “The envoy lied when personnel of Seema Surakshya Bal opened fire at Nepalis in Sunsari, tried to assure foreign diplomats that India has not imposed any sort of blockade,” Suwal told Republica, “We have demanded to send him back against India’s atrocity over an independent and sovereign nation.” Saying that India has impeached Nepal’s transit rights, he said that agreements on Koshi, Gandak, Mahakali and Upper Karnali should be annulled and the 1950 treaty should be reviewed. Only two out of four lawmakers of the party were present at the today’s meet.
